GLERA annual general meeting 2024

30 June 2024 @ 11.00 – 1.00 pm | Community Centre main hall

At this meeting we will be reviewing the last year and discussing the challenges ahead plus electing our committee and officers for 2024/25 (see current committee here).

Before we get down to GLERA AGM business we will have a presentation from the CoL Climate Action Strategy team on the Fann Street Enhancement Project (sometimes referred to as the ‘mini forest’). You can read more about it on the Imagine Golden Lane website

The project is being proposed under the Cool Streets and Greening Programme and

…aims to enhance the public realm on Fann Street adjacent to the Golden Lane Estate to improve climate resilience. This will include creation of new planting beds and a considered approach to the planting design. The outcome will be biodiversity enhancement through extending greening and approaching the sites design in a sustainable and climate resilient manner.

Following two in-depth resident consultation sessions the team have appointed ScottWhitby Studio as the landscape architect to progress and develop detailed design options. These options will be presented at the residents meeting for discussion and feedback to identify the most suitable approach to take forward.CoL Climate Action Team

After seven years Tim Godsmark is stepping down as Chair and our soon to be mandatorily retired(!) Alderwoman Sue Pearson will be putting herself forward to fulfil the role.

Towards the end of last year and after 10 years in the role Vernon Ashford stepped down as Honorary Treasurer. We currently have an interim Treasurer, and Tim Godsmark has agreed to stand for the position once he has stepped down as Chair. However, if you are interested in the role and would like more information please get in touch.

Please do think about standing yourself even if it’s in a limited capacity – nobody has a lot of time so we just tackle what we can in our best efforts to represent the interest of residents on the estate. Drop Jacqueline an email on secretary.glera@gmail.com to have a chat and find out more.

We will then continue the meeting with general updates and discussion.
