Forum support for the Golden Lane Leisure Centre Campaign
The Golden Lane Leisure Centre is a crucial part of our neighbourhood and the Barbican and Golden Lane Neighbourhood Forum supports the campaign to keep it open.
We also remain focussed on securing the Centre’s long-term future through a flexible and high quality refurbishment. With this in mind we are working closely with the campaign, the Golden Lane Residents Association and Barbican Association and immediately we repeat our calls to the City of London to:
- share its business case and plans for the long-term operation of the Centre following refurbishment;
- ensure that no physical changes are made to the fabric of the Centre that cannot be reversed;
- confirm that the pool tank is sound and does not need any major work; and
- share the latest designs, before these are finalised, for genuine consultation as the City’s Statement of Community Involvement requires.
