What is Barbican Renewal?
Our work on Renewal focuses on restoring the heritage of the Centre whilst revitalising it for future generations. Current proposals – for Phase 1, from 2025-2030 – include deliver ambitious access and inclusive design improvements, so the Barbican Centre building is safe and welcoming for everyone.
What will the Advisory Group be looking at?
The group will look at Barbican Renewal design proposals as they develop, helping us by giving feedback on how we can improve these designs. People in the group will also look at possible access challenges during building works so we can make plans to keep the building accessible for everyone.
Who can apply?
We want perspectives from disabled people and/or those with long-term conditions, neurodivergences, or people who could experience barriers when visiting public buildings. We’re ideally hoping to include those who have had some experience of visiting and using the Barbican Centre building.
What does it mean to register my interest?
For anyone who registers their interest, we’ll then use this information to select people based on the skills and perspectives they can offer. We want to create a group that includes people with a range of expertise and lived experience. This will help us make sure the Barbican building offers a great welcome for everyone.
Please do share this opportunity with your local London networks and encourage members to sign up.
