LWW Planning application update from BQA

  • The City’s Planning Department has confirmed that the London Wall West application will be determined on 17th April
  • BQA will submit a request to address the committee on heritage, carbon, townspace and residential amenity issues. BQA will also ask the Chair of Planning & Transport to exercise his discretion and afford additional time to objectors. The slot for objectors to address the committee will be very short (approx 10 mins). Coordinating and collaborating with those who want to speak will be essential for getting the key messages across effectively and efficiently without repetition. You can email BQA here if you wish to discuss this.
  • The planning officer’s report, explaining the material considerations and their relative weight in coming to a recommended decision, should be published a couple of days after the deadline for comments and one week prior to the decision date. The report, which therefore should be available by 10th April, should also include the number, breakdown and summary of all the objections they have received. We will make sure this report is on our website and will let you know as soon as it is.
  • The consultation period has been extended to 6th April. But inexplicably this is a Saturday, so any comments you wish to make should go in by close of business on Friday 5th.
  • A lot of further information has been submitted by the City of London as applicant since the original deadline of 31 January. You have probably received a letter about this.
  • BQA is reviewing this latest document “dump” with its advisors and will provide guidance on responding soon. Check here for updates over the coming week and we will email any further significant advice. If you have not yet signed up for updates, you can do that here.
  • The case officer for the application has confirmed in writing there is no need for anyone to re-confirm or re-submit objections. However any additional comments received will have to be considered by the City and will add to the total number of objections logged.
  • If you wish to make further objections, you can do so here. Remember the deadline is 5th April.
  • As well as making any objections to the scheme itself, we encourage you to comment on the impracticality of dealing with new and amended documents which give no detail as to their purpose or what has changed from the original. These new documents are hundreds of pages long and only by careful side-by-side comparison with the original submissions is it possible to establish if any material changes have been made. Any complaints you make stating how confusing and unsatisfactory this latest additional application is and how it is virtually impossible to assess the real impact of the amendments, will be extremely helpful to our campaign.

THANK YOU AS EVER FOR READING THIS – THE CITY’S PROCESS DOES NOT MAKES THINGS EASY FOR US AND WE ARE AWARE THERE IS A LOT TO ABSORB HERE, BUT WE HOPE THE ABOVE INFORMATION IS USEFUL.
