In September and November 2023, Imagine Golden Lane, the resident-led campaign to help Golden Lane reach net zero helped organise a couple of workshops with the City of London Climate Action Team around a proposal to create a miniature forest planting bed at the Fann Street edge of the estate. A follow up presentation was made at the June 2024 GLERA AGM (see more detail here).
The Fann Street Enhancement scheme is an ambitious project that has been supported by local stakeholders to help shape the projects design and feel.
Project aims:
- Implement climate resilient landscaping
- Increase biodiversity value
- Introduce adaptation measures
- Enhance the public realm and the relationship with the Estate
Consultation kicked off in 2023 as part of the feasibility investigations and early design process. This continued with the appointment of Scott Whitby Studio to deliver the design and the landscape plans; working with the project team and local stakeholders to inform the design development. The ongoing investigations are now complete, and the next and final steps will be to develop the construction pack, create a detailed planting design and receive approval to start works.
Closes 31 July

As part of the City of London Corporation’s Climate Action Strategy the Cool Streets and Greening programme is delivering 45 projects to trial climate resilience measures across the Square Mile to prepare the City for hotter drier summers, warmer wetter winters, delivering multiple benefits of climate adaptation, improving biodiversity and enhancing the public realm.
