SUMMARY:BGLNF guided walk
DESCRIPTION:meet Highwalk outside the Museum of London\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFuture Uses and Needs: a neighbourhood consultation and guided walk \n\n\n\nThe walk will include four spaces which may become available for future uses within the life of the City’s Local Plan and the Neighbourhood Plan\, especially:•    The site of the Museum of London and Bastion House – the London Wall West site•    Underused car parking areas in Golden Lane and the Barbican•    The Exhibition Halls off Beech Street•    The City of London School for Girls site \n\n\n\nThe new City Plan (and therefore our Neighbourhood Plan) looks ahead fifteen years to 2040. If the City does consider any of these sites for future development the Forum wants to identify beneficial uses and designs for them. We’d like your help with our early thinking about the needs and opportunities here. \n\n\n\nThe walk will be guided by members of the Forum\, and we will be on hand to capture ideas. The walks are free. Please book via this Eventbrite link

SUMMARY:hatfield podium works | resident briefing
DESCRIPTION:Sir Ralph Perring Centre\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe work to the Hatfield Podium starts on 24 November. \n\n\n\nMeet the contractor VolkerLaser’s Project Manager\, Ehsan Fathiazar\, and CoL Project Manager\, Dean Elsworth\, who will explain: \n\n\n\n\nthe reason for the project\n\n\n\nhow we can get across the estate\n\n\n\nhow the site will be accessed\n\n\n\nwhere the site facilities and storage will be\n\n\n\nhow they will be dealing with noisy work\n\n\n\n\nThis event has been organised by GLERA in response to the letter delivered to residents on 11 November. GLERA expressed concerns about the stated times for noisy works – these should be 10.00-12.00 and 14.00-16.00 (not 10.00-16.00). GLERA has also seen a logistics plan which uses an out of date site plan meaning some elements are not workable. \n\n\n\nLETTER TO RESIDENTS\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nrelated posts\n\n\n\n\nhatfield podium + leisure centre update

SUMMARY:waste reduction workshop
DESCRIPTION:Barbican Library\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAre you a resident of the City of London? We’d love to hear from you about how we can reduce waste\, share tools\, and support repair in our neighbourhoods. \n\n\n\nWe know that managing waste\, accessing tools\, and getting repairs done can be challenging\, and we believe the best solutions come from the people who experience these challenges every day. That’s why the City of London\, together with local residents\, and design researchers from Stby\, is launching a Library of Things this Spring: an easy\, affordable way to access tools and equipment rather than buying new. This is part of a wider effort to help our community save money\, improve recycling\, reduce waste\, and strengthen local resource sharing\, in partnership with the Barbican Library. \n\n\n\nWhether it’s confusion about what can be recycled or not having the right tools to repair everyday items\, we’d love to hear about your experiences. Register your interest to attend 1 of 4 workshops to share experiences and ideas for taking action across January to help co-create what these services could look like. \n\n\n\nThere are 4 different sessions\, 1 located at each estate: \n\n\n\n\n13 January 5:30-7pm – Portsoken Community Centre\n\n\n\n19 January 5:30-7pm – Artizan Street Library\n\n\n\n27 January 5:30-7pm – Barbican Library\n\n\n\n2 February 5:30-7pm – Sir Ralph Perring Centre\n\n\n\n\nTogether\, we can build more practical\, accessible and community-led ways to help reduce waste in our neighbourhood. \n\n\n\nWe hope you’ll join us and help shape what comes next! SUMMARY:golden baggers agm
DESCRIPTION:Sir Ralph Perring Centre\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTo all Golden Lane Estate residents – if you’re not a member of the Golden Baggers but would like to find out more about the please do come along! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDear Baggers and Friends \n\n\n\nPlease make time to join this important annual meeting – we need enough of us there to ratify any decisions and elect the Baggers Committee. \n\n\n\nWe’ll run through Baggers news\, funding\, highlights and fun times of 2025\, and take a look forward to what 2026 holds. \n\n\n\nWe will need to formally re-elect the Baggers Committee – all positions are filled again for next year with the exception of Chair – is that you?! Do come along and vote for your favourite. \n\n\n\nThe small Committee is supported by a few volunteers who “make things happen” in the allotments. We really need more of us to step up and do this! We’re talking an hour or two here and there\, or organising one thing over the whole year\, vs a solid regular commitment. For example\, we didn’t have a trip in 2025\, or an Autumn social\, or a Christmas tree\, mainly because we didn’t have anyone to organise it. These are the kind of one off events we’d love to see someone stick their hand up to make happen. \n\n\n\nPaving stones replacement in FebruaryAs many of you know\, the paths in the allotment are uneven. As part of the works happening on the podium outside the allotment\, opposite Hatfield\, we expect to have the opportunity to partially resurface and deal with the worst affected areas. The podium contractors will be removing ~25 paving stones from the walkway alongside the children’s area and the potting shed. They will replace them with new ones and lay them evenly. We are negotiating with them to help us with other tasks elsewhere\, eg levelling the section near the gate which turns into a puddle. \n\n\n\nIt will mean some disruption for a week or so from 9 February. We are discussing the details with the project manager and will update when confirmed. \n\n\n\nDo come along to the AGM and join the discussion! \n\n\n\nSee you there\,Baggers Committee

SUMMARY:waste reduction workshop
DESCRIPTION:Sir Ralph Perring Centre\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAre you a resident of the City of London?
