SUMMARY:walk + talk | what makes a healthy\, happy neighbourhood?
DESCRIPTION:meet outside Golden Lane Leisure Centre\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFollowing an enthusiastic response to our first two walks\, the Barbican and Golden Lane Neighbourhood Forum is inviting you to “walk and talk” about making the Barbican and Golden Lane a healthier\, happier place. \n\n\n\nOn Tuesday 28 April from 2pm to 4.30pm we’ll consider what adds to good health\, and what subtracts from it\, in our local area. \n\n\n\nAs we explore the neighbourhood\, we’ll walk back in time to where so much of London’s health care started at the glorious\, newly-renovated Bart’s Great Hall in a special visit hosted by the curators from Bart’s Heritage. \n\n\n\nWhen policy makers talk about health they tend to mean services like GPs and hospitals. And of course\, we need these for diagnosis and treatment\, but a decent home\, fresh air\, enough money to survive on\, access to culture and sports\, as well as an active network of family and friends are at least as important and may even reduce our reliance on services. There will be other things that are crucial to you and your health. Join us and share your thoughts! \n\n\n\nPlaces are limited at Bart’s\, so please book here.We start at 2pm outside the entrance to Golden Lane Leisure Centre. See you there on the 28th! \n\n\n\nThanks as always for all your support\, \n\n\n\nBGLNF

SUMMARY:golden lane leisure centre user forum | first meeting
DESCRIPTION:Golden Lane Community Centre\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis is the moment. After everything this community has built up\, on Sunday 31 May we turn it into a constituted\, democratic Forum with formal standing to engage the City of London Corporation\, one month before the 30 June decision on our leisure centre. \n\n\n\nWe will adopt the Forum’s constitution\, elect an Interim Committee with seats for SEND families\, Young at Heart\, swimmers\, racket sports\, gym users\, families\, disabled adults\, working-age residents and more\, and agree our counter-proposal for genuine engagement with the City before 30 June. \n\n\n\nThe Corporation has now confirmed in writing that it is shaping an Advisory Group for the centre\, and has asked about the Forum. This is the institutional opening we’ve been working towards. Every member who signs up before the meeting strengthens our mandate when we sit down with the City. \n\n\n\nSIGN UP NOW Free\, 30 seconds: \n\n\n\nAlready signed up? Bring a neighbour. The bigger the room tomorrow\, the bigger our voice on Monday. \n\n\n\nThe pool. The badminton. The table tennis. The Young at Heart. The swimmers. The SEND families. The workers who used it at lunchtime. The dancers and tai chi classes. The kids who learned to swim there. \n\n\n\n8\,000 residents. One leisure centre. One chance to get this right.

SUMMARY:give + take day
DESCRIPTION:Golden Lane Community Centre\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSeveral times throughout the year\, the Recycling Team run Give and Take Days at different locations across the City. Have items in a reusable condition you no longer need? Looking for something new-to-you? This is your chance to declutter sustainably while helping to reduce waste and support your local community. \n\n\n\nYou can also bring household batteries\, lightbulbs and vapes to be recycled at our mini recycling centre. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nhow it works\n\n\n\nThe day is spilt into two parts – the ‘Give’ where you can come and donate your unwanted items. There is no limit to the number of items we will accept. These items will be sorted and displayed ready for the ‘Take’ part of the day which will happen later\, where you are welcome to select items you’d like to bring home with you.
