SUMMARY:BGLNF consultation walk
DESCRIPTION:Set out from St Giles Church\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nJoin the Barbican and Golden Lane Neighbourhood Forum walk for a discussion on planning for the future heritage of the area. \n\n\n\nProgress is being made on the writing of a neighbourhood plan for the Barbican and Golden Lane Neighbourhood. More information on work to date can be found on our website. An important part of the current work focuses on identifying areas of significance. Points on the route will therefore include: St Giles’ Church and Terrace; the water around the church; the Columbarium; the Highwalk; the Roman wall; Barber Surgeons’ Garden; and the Roman Gatehouse. \n\n\n\nThere are many questions to address. What buildings should be listed but aren’t yet? How does listing help businesses like the laundrette or the barbers under Crescent House? And how can our listed homes adapt to hotter summers? \n\n\n\nShare your views on protection\, memorial and heritage while we walk around the neighbourhood. \n\n\n\nReserve a spot on Eventbrite

SUMMARY:talk | bringing nature into the city
DESCRIPTION:Golden Lane Community Centre\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe UK is now one of the world’s most nature-depleted countries. According to the Natural History Museum’s Biodiversity Intactness Index\, the UK ranks 189th out of 240 countries for how intact its nature and biodiversity remain (see the Natural History Museum Biodiversity Intactness Index) \n\n\n\nMajor planting improvements have just been completed in Fann Street as part of the City of London Biodiversity Plan. However Golden Lane Estate and its neighbouring streets may offer many more opportunities for increasing biodiversity and combatting climate change.  \n\n\n\nImagine Golden Lane at Net Zero is delighted to welcome Dr Phil Askew to speak about Bringing Nature into the City.  \n\n\n\nDr. Phil Askew is the Director of Landscape at Peabody Housing Association where he oversees the design and implementation of landscape and environmental projects. \n\n\n\nAt Thamesmead\, the modernist estate built just ten years after Golden Lane\, he leads one of London’s largest regeneration projects\, taking a green infrastructure and landscape-led approach. \n\n\n\nPreviously\, Dr. Askew directed the design and delivery of the London 2012 Olympic Park for the Olympic Delivery Authority and its transformation into the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. \n\n\n\nFind out more about Peabody’s work at Thamesmead: https://www.thamesmeadnow.org.uk/ \n\n\n\nBook free tickets for this event on Eventbrite \n\n\n\nImagine Golden Lane at Net Zero is a resident-lead initiative \n\n\n\nBOOK TICKETS
