SUMMARY:walk + talk | what makes a healthy\, happy neighbourhood?
DESCRIPTION:meet outside Golden Lane Leisure Centre\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFollowing an enthusiastic response to our first two walks\, the Barbican and Golden Lane Neighbourhood Forum is inviting you to “walk and talk” about making the Barbican and Golden Lane a healthier\, happier place. \n\n\n\nOn Tuesday 28 April from 2pm to 4.30pm we’ll consider what adds to good health\, and what subtracts from it\, in our local area. \n\n\n\nAs we explore the neighbourhood\, we’ll walk back in time to where so much of London’s health care started at the glorious\, newly-renovated Bart’s Great Hall in a special visit hosted by the curators from Bart’s Heritage. \n\n\n\nWhen policy makers talk about health they tend to mean services like GPs and hospitals. And of course\, we need these for diagnosis and treatment\, but a decent home\, fresh air\, enough money to survive on\, access to culture and sports\, as well as an active network of family and friends are at least as important and may even reduce our reliance on services. There will be other things that are crucial to you and your health. Join us and share your thoughts! \n\n\n\nPlaces are limited at Bart’s\, so please book here.We start at 2pm outside the entrance to Golden Lane Leisure Centre. See you there on the 28th! \n\n\n\nThanks as always for all your support\, \n\n\n\nBGLNF

SUMMARY:leisure centre | emergency public meeting
DESCRIPTION:Golden Lane Community Centre\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBACKGROUND: On 1 April\, Fusion Lifestyle\, operator of Golden Lane Sports and Fitness\, announced that were entering administration and would be ceasing operations on 30 April. City of London plan to close the centre on the same day\, well in advance of the planned closure for refurbishments. \n\n\n\nThanks to three very committed Golden Lane Estate residents\, deep concern and outrage has been channelled into a focused campaign. The campaign is calling out the decision makers\, pushing for appropriate short/medium term interim provision\, and liaising with groups most affected by the sudden closure.  \n\n\n\nGet latest news here on the SAVE Golden Lane Estate Leisure Centre campaign page \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nwhat happens next? \n\n\n\nThis is your chance to hear directly from campaign coordinators\, ward councillors\, and community voices — and to make your’s heard too. \n\n\n\nWe’ll be covering where the campaign stands\, what the City has and hasn’t answered\, what happens to our centre on 30 April\, and what we’re doing to fight for it. \n\n\n\nShare this widely. Bring a neighbour.

SUMMARY:silk street | town hall meeting
DESCRIPTION:St Giles Church\, Barbican\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIf you submitted an objection to the scheme proposed for 1 Silk Street you may have by now received notification that revisions to the scheme have now been submitted. You may also have received highly misleading communications from the developer\, Lipton Rogers\, investors La Salle\, or their publicity consultants\, Kanda\, or read stories in the press\, implying that significant concessions have been made in the light of objections. Barbican Quarter Action’s Silk Street campaign considers that the amendments submitted are marginal and the scheme remains a huge missed opportunity by the City of London. \n\n\n\nA large number of additional documents have been added to the original application however we will attempt to guide you through the relevant items at our next meeting to be held on Wednesday 11 March\, 7pm\, St Giles Cripplegate  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nrelated posts\n\n\n\n\nsilk street update
