SUMMARY:city of london citizens forum
DESCRIPTION:Broadworks\, 57 Old Broad Street\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLet’s talk about the City of London’s flagship policy\, Destination City! We want to hear your views and embrace your insights and expertise. \n\n\n\nJoin us for the July City of London Citizens Forum to held on the evening of Tuesday 16 July 2024 from 6.30-8.30pm at Broadworks and supported by The EC BID. \n\n\n\nThere will be an optional ‘Makers Workshop’ to attend from 5.30pm-6.30pm. More information about this will be sent if you sign up to this event. \n\n\n\nBroadworks by Hive Curates has ten onsite affordable studios\, a gallery and show space for artists and makers to promote their craft. It runs a dynamic programme of workshops\, exhibitions and events; building on the City’s heritage of craft and enterprise. \n\n\n\nThe Corporation’s flagship programme Destination City aims to attract more visitors to the Square Mile – and also provide benefit to residents and workers. A review of the programme has been exploring the future development of a liveable\, lively and connected City in a uniquely historic\, cultural and characterful setting. \n\n\n\nAs a contribution to the next stage of Destination City residents are invited to a series of bimonthly events where they can learn more about the programme\, and contribute their ideas. These get-togethers are being organised by councillor Brendan Barns\, who is Resident Representative on the City Envoy Network. \n\n\n\nEach event will take place at the sort of venue that might appeal to both visitors and residents – but which they might not know about. There will be an opportunity to hear from the venue and and a range of different stakeholders along with drinks and networking. \n\n\n\nOfficers and councillors will be on hand to share ideas. It should be fun\, informative and a chance to meet new people. \n\n\n\nIf you’d like to help with organising the Citizen Forums or have ideas for Destination City please contact brendan.barns@cityoflondon.gov.uk \n\n\n\nRESERVE YOUR SPOT

SUMMARY:GLERA AGM 2024
DESCRIPTION:Golden Lane Community Centre\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAt this meeting we will be reviewing the last year and discussing the challenges ahead plus electing our committee and officers for 2024/25 (see current committee here). \n\n\n\nBefore we get down to GLERA AGM business we will have a presentation from the CoL Climate Action Strategy team on the Fann Street Enhancement Project (sometimes referred to as the ‘mini forest’). You can read more about it on the Imagine Golden Lane website \n\n\n\nThe project is being proposed under the Cool Streets and Greening Programme and \n\n\n\n\n…aims to enhance the public realm on Fann Street adjacent to the Golden Lane Estate to improve climate resilience. This will include creation of new planting beds and a considered approach to the planting design. The outcome will be biodiversity enhancement through extending greening and approaching the sites design in a sustainable and climate resilient manner. \n\n\n\nFollowing two in-depth resident consultation sessions the team have appointed ScottWhitby Studio as the landscape architect to progress and develop detailed design options. These options will be presented at the residents meeting for discussion and feedback to identify the most suitable approach to take forward. \nCoL Climate Action Team\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nrunning order\n\n\n\n10.45 | whilst the Climate Action Team are setting up join us for tea\, coffee\, cake and general chatter \n\n\n\n11.00 | Chair\, Tim Godsmark will start the meeting with a few words \n\n\n\n11.05 | Fann Street Enhancement Project \n\n\n\n11.30 | GLERA AGM \n\n\n\n\nChair’s Report\n\n\n\nFinancial Report\n\n\n\nNominations and Voting\n\n\n\n\nAfter seven years Tim Godsmark is stepping down as Chair and our soon to be mandatorily retired(!) Alderwoman Sue Pearson will be putting herself forward to fulfil the role. \n\n\n\nTowards the end of last year and after 10 years in the role Vernon Ashford stepped down as Honorary Treasurer. We currently have an interim Treasurer\, and Tim Godsmark has agreed to stand for the position once he has stepped down as Chair. However\, if you are interested in the role and would like more information please get in touch. \n\n\n\nPlease do think about standing yourself even if it’s in a limited capacity – nobody has a lot of time so we just tackle what we can in our best efforts to represent the interest of residents on the estate. Drop Jacqueline an email on secretary.glera@gmail.com to have a chat and find out more. \n\n\n\nWe will then continue the meeting with general updates and discussion.

These get-togethers are being organised by councillor Brendan Barns\, who is Resident Representative on the City Envoy Network. \n\n\n\nEach event will take place at the sort of venue that might appeal to both visitors and residents – but which they might not know about. SUMMARY:city plan 2040 | heritage
DESCRIPTION:All Hallows by the Tower\, Byward Street\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTo present the City Plan and policies and approaches on heritage. \n\n\n\nAs a part of the regulation 19 consultation\, the City Corporation is undertaking a series of events on key topics for the City Plan. City Plan 2040 is the City Corporation’s vision for how the Square Mile will develop up to 2040. It contains a suite of policies to guide development in the City\, ensuring growth is economically\, environmentally and socially sustainable. \n\n\n\nThe City Corporation formally approved the local plan for the Square Mile\, known as ‘City Plan 2040’\, last month. \n\n\n\nThe decision means that the finalised plan will now be published for public consultation\, before submission and examination by an independent planning inspector later this year. \n\n\n\nThe plan will: \n\n\n\n\nPower a growing\, vibrant and competitive economy\, with over 1.2m sqm of additional office floorspace delivered by 2040;\n\n\n\nTransform the Square Mile into a 7-day-a-week cultural and leisure destination for everyone;\n\n\n\nEnsure the City is a highly sustainable place to do business\, with a net zero Square Mile by 2040;\n\n\n\nCreate an inclusive\, accessible and healthy Square Mile where everyone feels welcome; and\n\n\n\nCelebrate local heritage while re-shaping those parts of the City that have the most potential for growth and regeneration.\n\n\n\n\nWe will be expanding on the plan’s emphasis on celebrating the City’s historic environment – and exploring the pivotal role that heritage can play in placemaking\, the economy and wellbeing. Leading practitioners in the field will share case studies\, followed by a debate and Q&A. \n\n\n\nWe will provide an overview of how to respond and what happens next.
