SUMMARY:GLERA AGM 2024
DESCRIPTION:Golden Lane Community Centre\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAt this meeting we will be reviewing the last year and discussing the challenges ahead plus electing our committee and officers for 2024/25 (see current committee here). \n\n\n\nBefore we get down to GLERA AGM business we will have a presentation from the CoL Climate Action Strategy team on the Fann Street Enhancement Project (sometimes referred to as the ‘mini forest’). You can read more about it on the Imagine Golden Lane website \n\n\n\nThe project is being proposed under the Cool Streets and Greening Programme and \n\n\n\n\n…aims to enhance the public realm on Fann Street adjacent to the Golden Lane Estate to improve climate resilience. This will include creation of new planting beds and a considered approach to the planting design. The outcome will be biodiversity enhancement through extending greening and approaching the sites design in a sustainable and climate resilient manner. \n\n\n\nFollowing two in-depth resident consultation sessions the team have appointed ScottWhitby Studio as the landscape architect to progress and develop detailed design options. These options will be presented at the residents meeting for discussion and feedback to identify the most suitable approach to take forward. \nCoL Climate Action Team\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nrunning order\n\n\n\n10.45 | whilst the Climate Action Team are setting up join us for tea\, coffee\, cake and general chatter \n\n\n\n11.00 | Chair\, Tim Godsmark will start the meeting with a few words \n\n\n\n11.05 | Fann Street Enhancement Project \n\n\n\n11.30 | GLERA AGM \n\n\n\n\nChair’s Report\n\n\n\nFinancial Report\n\n\n\nNominations and Voting\n\n\n\n\nAfter seven years Tim Godsmark is stepping down as Chair and our soon to be mandatorily retired(!) Alderwoman Sue Pearson will be putting herself forward to fulfil the role. \n\n\n\nTowards the end of last year and after 10 years in the role Vernon Ashford stepped down as Honorary Treasurer. We currently have an interim Treasurer\, and Tim Godsmark has agreed to stand for the position once he has stepped down as Chair. However\, if you are interested in the role and would like more information please get in touch. \n\n\n\nPlease do think about standing yourself even if it’s in a limited capacity – nobody has a lot of time so we just tackle what we can in our best efforts to represent the interest of residents on the estate. Drop Jacqueline an email on secretary.glera@gmail.com to have a chat and find out more. \n\n\n\nWe will then continue the meeting with general updates and discussion.

The consultation closes 31 May. \n\n\n\nIn the news + updates section you can find city plan 2040 which gives an overview\, a bit of background\, links to draft plan and online consultation\, details of other events etc. The other consultation events are also listed on the events page. \n\n\n\nrepairs contract update\n\n\n\nGLERA sit on the HRA Repairs and Maintenance Resident Working Group as part of the City’s consultation process for the new repairs and maintenance contract. The form of the contract has been decided and leaseholders should have received Section 20 notices – there are two\, one for general repairs and maintenance\, the other for balcony and roof waterproofing works (read more here). We are now being asked to feedback on the content of the tender documents\, the types of questions\, weightings etc (read more here). \n\n\n\nservice charge refund\n\n\n\n\n\nConcerns first raised in 2020 have led to a recent refund in service charges for Crescent House leaseholders (read more here). GLERA is now tackling service charge issues for other blocks.
